Escursion Details

We will leave from the Mountain Chalet at 10 a.m. and ride downhill along a panoramic paved road for a few minutes. Then we will enter a stunning off-road trail that winds through a lush pine forest. Once out of the forest, we will ride along the Altomontana trail that winds through the volcanic landscape of Mount Etna, made of lava rocks, lava desert and craters.

You will have time to visit a lava cave before riding your mountain bike on the large rim of the craters formed by the massive 2002 eruption that destroyed Piano Provenzana and changed forever the north side of Mount Etna.

From the peak of the craters, you will enjoy an amazing view of the Mediterranean Sea and the wildness of Mount Etna. This is the perfect spot to take some pictures to capture the beauty of this Sicilian landscape.The last stretch of this mountain bike tour winds downhill through a single trail deep into the forest. Once back at the Mountain Chalet, you can relax and grab something before moving back to your accommodation.

Questions and Answers

How Should I Dress For This Bike Tour?

Ideally, cycling trousers will help you but they are not essential, just have comfortable, sporty clothes. If you do the tour between September and April I recommend a windbreaker and a sweatshirt.

Are the bikes electric or muscle?

The price of €69 includes a muscle bike if you want an electric one you pay an extra €25.

Where will we meet?

We will pick you up at yoour accomodation or at a meeting point not too far from it.

Which towns do you provide the pick up from?

We provide transport mainly from taormina, Giardini Naxos and sourrounding towns. If you are based far from Taormina we might arrange a transport for an extra fee, if in doubt ask at the moment of the booking, our team will give you all the necessary assistance.
