Discover Etna's snowy landscape

Visiting Etna in winter is an absolute must! It's the perfect time to experience an unexpected and evocative landscape of snow-covered forests, beautiful craters and breathtaking views. This incredible guided tour of Etna's winter north side includes a two-hour and thirty minutes walk, the ascent to the summit of a series of craters and a visit to a cave. Before setting off on your adventure, you'll have the chance to warm up with a cup of coffee and get your trekking boots and snowshoes at a mountain hut. The price of the tour includes transport, an English-speaking guide, boots, walking shoes and walking sticks. We offer a convenient pick-up service from Taormina, Giardini Naxos and surrounding towns, so you don't have to worry about getting there. And if you're in Catania, the pick-up point is easily accessible by car, train or bus. Escursion Details

Our guide will pick you up between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. The snowshoe hike on Mount Etna begins at an altitude of 1650 metres, at the foot of a beautiful birch forest near Piano Provenzana. From here, equipped with snowshoes, we enter the forest, admiring this unique ecosystem in all its winter beauty. After an hour's walk, we'll reach the foot of the Sartorius craters and climb them to their highest point, 1850 metres above sea level. From here, we can look out over the forests of Etna, the Calabrian coast and the Peloritani and Nebrodi mountain ranges. The length of the route is approximately 4 kilometres At the end of the hike, we'll head for a hut where we'll have lunch, consisting of a sandwich of your choice, a drink and a coffee.

Can you provide winter jackets and gloves?

Yes, mountain jackets can be hired for €5, while gloves and an hat cost €2.

What happens if the weather conditions are adverse_

If the weather conditions are unfavourable, the tour will be cancelled and you will pay nothing. If you have other days available, you can reschedule the tour.
